Metallurgy is the scientific understanding of metals. It includes classification systems, investigation into molecular and crystalline behavior and the effects and uses of metal. -The Complete Metalsmith by Tim McCreight

Titanium Ti

Melting point: 3047 ℉ 1675 ℃

Niobium Nb

Melting point: 4474 ℉ 2468 ℃

Titanium, Niobium and four other reactive metals have the unique property of developing surface film when charged with small voltages of electricity. This is achieved by using electricity to form the oxide film. A controlled electric current running through a liquid bath will form oxygen at the positive + pole. This process is known as anodizing. Anodizing allows artist to change the surface color of the metal. Anodizing can produce colors of blue, green, yellow, purple, and pink.
